One Dead Many Others Injured in Tour Bus Crash
A 40-year-old woman was killed late Friday night in an accident at mile marker 139 on the Ohio Turnpike involving a tour bus and multiple vehicles. The fatal bus crash happened at around 11 p.m. in Lorain County, Ohio. Officials say 40-year-old Cynthia Dent of Detroit was pronounced dead on the scene after her vehicle was struck by a Lakefront Lines charter bus. Ten people were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical. A witness on the bus told reporters that the bus driver was knocked unconscious immediately after the collision, prompting passengers to rush toward the front of the bus to steer it off the highway. In total, seven vehicles were reportedly involved in the accident, though OSHP did not release details in the immediate aftermath of the crash. The Lakefront Lines tour bus was on its way to New York City. Lakefront Lines did not comment on the crash. Authorities are currently investigating what caused Friday night's fatal tour bus crash.

Family of Bus Crash Victim Files Lawsuit
The family of Sakina Master, a woman killed in a 2011 tour bus accident, have filed a $40 million lawsuit alleging the bus was speeding and had a defective tire, the Wall Street Journal reports. The lawsuit, filed in Niagara County Court, names the bus driver along with tire-maker Bridgestone Americas Tire, Bedore Tours of North Tonawanda and Motor Coach Industries of Schaumburg, Illinois. The July 17, 2011 crash took place near Avoca, New York when a tour bus ran off the side of Interstate 390 before overturning and coming to a stop in a wooded area. Sakina Master and another passenger were killed and dozens were injured in the crash. The allegations in the lawsuit state that belts on the left front tire were not properly assembled, which, coupled with the bus driver speeding seven miles per hour over the designated limit, made the bus overturn and crash. The lawsuit also blames Motor Coach because the bus was not equipped with seatbelts.

Two School Bus Crashes in Virginia Injure 16
Local authorities are investigating two Virginia school bus crashes that occurred less than two hours apart on Tuesday afternoon. The first crash, which occurred at roughly 2 p.m. in Midlothian, injured seven Midlothian High School students and two adults. The driver of an ice cream truck was heading northbound at the 1200 block of Charter Colony Parkway when he swerved to avoid cars that had stopped in front of him and collided head-on with the southbound school bus. The students and the ice cream truck driver were taken to St. Francis Medical Center with minor injuries. The school bus driver was rushed to VCU Medical Center with critical injuries. Local authorities are uncertain whether speed played a factor in the Midlothian school bus crash. The ice cream truck driver will be cited for reckless driving, authorities said.
The second crash of the day occurred at around 3:27 p.m in Henrico County. Seven people in total were injured after a county school bus collided with a pickup truck and trailer at the intersection of Creighton and Dabbs House roads. The bus and pickup truck collided on a narrow part of the road, with part of the school bus ending up in a ditch. Five special needs children on the bus and two occupants of the pickup truck were taken to Bon Secours memorial Regional Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. It is unclear if either of the school busses were fitted with seat belts and if the belts were being used by the students at the time of the crashes. Local authorities in Virginia are investigating both of Tuesday's school bus accidents.
