Our attorneys come from diverse backgrounds and offer a unique combination of skills that are particularly useful in the investigation of defective products, consumer fraud, and commercial transportation accidents. Former Adjunct Aviation Accident Law Professor, Ronald L. M. Goldman, is a private pilot, John Greaves is an airline-transport pilot and served as a captain of a major airline, and Timothy Loranger is a pilot and former jet aircraft mechanic. Paul Hedlund has a degree in mechanical engineering and Ilyas Akbari has a bioengineering degree. We also have a registered nurse on staff, Cynthia Garber. In addition to Ronald Goldman, Clark Aristei, Diane Marger Moore, and Mark Schlein (also a former S.W.A.T. commander and deputy sheriff) were also adjunct law professors prior to joining Baum Hedlund.
Baum Hedlund's staff has the experience and education to effectively handle complex cases from intake to resolution. Our attorneys have been appointed to 23 plaintiff steering committees in mass tort litigation that manage complex multi-district litigation arising from airline and train disasters, pharmaceutical drug defects and construction failures. Our attorneys have tried well over 200 cases in their careers. Many of the firm's attorneys have also delivered Continuing Legal Education accredited lectures on the complexities of mass tort litigation.
We have successfully defeated several attempts by the federal government, and defendants, including major airlines, rail organizations and pharmaceutical companies, who argued that federal law preempted our clients' claims in aviation accidents, trains disasters and drug product liability cases.
Many of the firm’s partners have spearheaded, and participated in, proactive campaigns that have led to safety improvements. Baum Hedlund attorneys have testified on at least eight occasions at state and federal levels regarding commercial transportation, building and drug safety and upon invitation by a foreign government to testify about the risks of a certain U.S. manufactured medication.
