Plane Crashes into Three Homes, Fatalities and Injuries Reported

When small plane and private jet accidents occur throughout the country, injuries and fatalities are very likely. Those who are injured or killed typically include pilots and plane passengers, but when accidents occur in urban areas near airports, residents are also in danger of becoming seriously injured or killed in private plane crashes. Pilots, plane owners, and aircraft manufacturers are responsible for keeping plane passengers safe, but their responsibilities also extend to others.

Over the weekend, a private plane crashed in Indiana as the pilot was attempting to make a landing at a nearby airport. The plane did not crash in an open field; it crashed into three homes. Two people were killed in the plane crash and three others were seriously injured after the accident. The accident has been devastating and has frightened many, but some local residents may be feeling fortunate that the number of fatalities were not higher.

According to reports, the private plane crash occurred Sunday afternoon. Officials said that the pilot of the plane was attempting to make a landing but reported technical problems possibly stemming from electrical problems with the plane. The pilot was not able to land the plane on the first attempt. While attempting a landing on the second try, the plane crashed into three homes. CNN reported that the plane was a Hawker Beechcraft 390.

At least four people were on the plane when it crashed. Two of the occupants were killed in the accident. Three other people were injured, including at least one person who was not on the plane. After the crash, local residents had to be evacuated from their homes. Crews worked on cleaning up spilled jet fuel and officials continued to search for any other possible victims throughout the afternoon and evening.

The cause of the fatal accident has yet to be determined. Investigators will certainly be looking into whether the aircraft’s equipment had been properly checked before the flight and whether the reported technical problems could have been detected and fixed prior to the flight. Those who were injured and families who lost loved ones yesterday will want to make sure the crash is thoroughly investigated so that they can recover the compensation they need to cover the damage they are now left to deal with and cope with for days, weeks, and months to come.
