Near Air Collision over LAX – FAA Seeking Answers

April 16, 1997: A Brazilian VASP MD-11 and a KLM 747 nearly collided over LAX. The near collision was thought to be caused by a language barrier between the two pilots. Baum Hedlund attorney John Greaves, a former airline pilot, gave insight to KCAL 9 Los Angeles News as to some of the factors that may have caused the two airliners to come so close to one another.
