Baum Hedlund Staff Member Joins 100 Elite in Empire State Building Climb
to Raise Money for Incurable Blood Cancer

1576 Steps, 86 Flights, 1 Mission: Mike Cornwell, a veteran legal support staff member for Baum, Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman has gained entry into an elite club of 100 MMRF athletes who will be running a vertical marathon up the Empire State Building on February 8, 2012 to raise money for the MMRF (Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation) Charity Team.

Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer.  Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year relative survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers. The mission of the MMRF is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure.

The race starts in the lobby of the most famous building in New York City. When the gun goes off, a wave of 100 MMRF athletes will race up 86 flights of stairs for the New York Road Runners Empire State Building Run-Up Powered by the MMRF. A quick 1,576 steps will take Mike from the ground floor to the final lap around the Observation Deck that looms nearly a quarter mile above 5th Avenue.

This event is the ultimate NYC challenge and an event to which interested athletes find it almost impossible to gain entry.

We are very proud of you Mike!
