South Carolina vs Pittman

SUPPORT CHRISTOPHER

In response to countless offers to help Christopher, we are providing the following information:

1. If you have thoughts you would like to share with the Court regarding leniency for Christopher, you may write a “friend of the court” letter to Judge; Hon. Daniel F. Pieper, Circuit Court Judge, Ninth Judicial Circuit, 100 Broad St., Charleston, SC 29401-2287.

2. For those who want to pursue legislative reform in South Carolina, you may write your local Congressman or Senator. If you are from South Carolina, please write your local legislators to ask them to support legislation prohibiting the prosecution of children under the age of 14 as adults. http://www.christopherpittman.org/

3. Many people have asked about writing the Governor of South Carolina to ask for a pardon for Chris. Governor Mark Sanford's contact info is located at www.scgovernor.com and you are, of course, free to write to him. However, his office has advised that they are being inundated with requests for a pardon, and has asked us to inform interested parties that the proper channel in South Carolina is via letter to the Department of Probation, Parole & Pardon Service, Attn: Parole Board Members, PO Box 50666, Columbia, SC 29250. To sign a petition that has been created and addressed to the Governor, go to: http://www.petitiononline.com/4989/petition.html

4. Many people have indicated that they would like to share their own personal experiences on Zoloft or other drugs with the public. There are, of course, many journalists who are interested in hearing about similar stories. Feel free to contact journalists in your area concerning your story.

5. Several people have asked about a "legal defense fund." Although our services have been provided on a pro bono (without charge) basis, our co-counsel, Andy Vickery of Vickery & Waldner, has established a legal defense fund, which will be used SOLELY to defray out of pocket expenses. Any funds left over will be invested for Chris' benefit when he is released from incarceration. Please go to http://www.justiceseekers.com/index.cfm?menuitemID=195
for information about the Christopher Pittman Legal Defense Fund.

6. If you or someone you know has been adversely affected by an SSRI medication, please file a MedWatch report on the FDA's website at http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/report/consumer/consumer.htm.

7. Many people want to write to Christopher. If you would like to write to him, please send your letters to our law firm addressed:

Once again, thank you very much for your kind thoughts and prayers in support of Christopher, his family and the defense team. We are truly overwhelmed by and appreciative of the support Chris and his family are receiving.
